Research Scientist Trude Borch at Norut Tromsø will present the new figures at NHO Reiseliv (the Norwegian Hospitality Association) conference on fishing tourism on February 23.

Norut Tromsø has charted the structure of the Norwegian marine fishing tourism industry through an industry survey. The following factors have been charted:

  • season length
  • number of fishing guest nights
  • the nationality of the tourists
  • mode of transport
  • travelling group
  • prices of accommodation and boat hire

The project Economic impact – fishing tourism is part of the Research Council of Norway’s programme The Oceans and Coastal Areas (HAVKYST). The Institute of Marine Research will release the catch statistics for the fishing tourism industry in the early summer.
