NOK 3 million for research about FeFo
26.10.2011
Norut Alta – Áltá has been allocated funding from the Regional Research Fund for Northern Norway to research how people perceive FeFo’s owner transactions and management. The research is based on the fact that FeFo (Finnmarkseiendommen) shall attend to the interests of the population of Finnmark. At the same time FeFo performs the role of a business developer and, as such, is a potential competitor to local resource users who may also have conflicting interests with each other.
Attending to the people’s interests?
Eva Josefsen, Research Scientist at Norut Alta
The researchers will survey the population’s perceptions of how FeFo’s decisions relating to resources and land are attending to their interests. Further, they will study how this impacts on the support for FeFo as a management organ and business actor. Another aspect the researchers will touch on is how, and to what extent, people are reliant on the nature, in order to gain a better insight into the resource user’s ability to adapt and influence changes. Asking questions The researchers will carry out two questionnaires: a population survey and a survey aimed at specific user groups, as well as carrying out interviews in six places in Finnmark.
Cooperating with Tromsø and Canada The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Centre for Sami Studies at the University of Tromsø. In addition, the University of Saskatchewan in Canada is a collaborator in the project. Contact person Research Scientist Eva Josefsen |
